A civil judgment rendered in one canton is enforceable throughout Switzerland only if issued by a competent court. The foreign-cantonal judgment binds other cantons only within the scope of the deciding court’s jurisdiction. Questions whether an out-of-wedlock or betrothed child acquires the father’s home municipality belong to the legal order of the municipality concerned; if the applicable cantonal law assigns the child to the mother, neither the father’s acknowledgment nor a judgment from another canton can confer the father’s citizenship (consid. 1-2).
