The Federal Tribunal noted the withdrawal of the criminal appeal against the Geneva Chamber of Accusation’s order prolonging pretrial detention and refusing release. It therefore struck the case from the docket. Because the appellant admitted that the appeal lacked sufficient reasoning and was bound to fail, legal aid was denied insofar as still relevant. Given the circumstances and his personal situation, no court costs were imposed.
Art. 32 al. 2 LTF, art. 71 LTF, art. 73 PCF; withdrawal of an appeal: the Federal Tribunal takes note of the withdrawal and strikes the case from the docket. Where the appellant concedes that the appeal is insufficiently reasoned and manifestly doomed to fail, the request for legal aid is to be rejected under art. 64 al. 1 LTF, unless moot. In view of the circumstances and the personal situation of the appellant, the Court may exceptionally dispense with judicial costs under art. 66 al. 1, 2nd sentence in fine, and al. 2 LTF.

Vu:
le recours en matière pénale formé le 27 novembre 2007 par A.________, représenté par Me X.________, avocat à Genève, contre une ordonnance rendue le 6 novembre 2007 par la Chambre d'accusation de la République et canton de Genève autorisant la prolongation de sa détention avant jugement jusqu'au 6 janvier 2008 et refusant sa mise en liberté provisoire,
la lettre du 7 décembre 2007 de Me Doris Leuenberger, avocate à Genève, constituée pour la défense des intérêts de A.________ en lieu et place de Me X.________, annonçant le retrait du recours au Tribunal fédéral;
les art. 32 al. 2 LTF, 71 LTF et 73 PCF;
considérant:
qu'il y a lieu de prendre acte du retrait du recours et de rayer la cause du rôle;
que le recourant admet que son recours n'était pas suffisamment explicite et motivé, et que ses conclusions étaient dès lors vouées à l'échec;
que la demande d'assistance judiciaire doit ainsi être écartée, pour autant qu'elle ait encore un objet (art. 64 al. 1 LTF);
que, compte tenu des circonstances et de la situation personnelle du recourant, il y a lieu de statuer sans frais judiciaires (art. 66 al. 1 2e phrase in fine et al. 2 LTF);
par ces motifs, le Président ordonne:

La cause est rayée du rôle par suite de retrait du recours.
2.
La demande d'assistance judiciaire est rejetée, dans la mesure où elle n'est pas sans objet.
3.
Il n'est pas perçu de frais judiciaires.
4.
La présente ordonnance est communiquée à la mandataire du recourant, ainsi qu'au Procureur général et à la Chambre d'accusation de la République et canton de Genève.
