The appellant withdrew his public-law and subsidiary constitutional appeals against the Vaud cantonal judgment concerning reimbursement of training costs to the Municipality of Gland. The Federal Supreme Court therefore struck the case from the docket. It ordered reduced judicial costs of CHF 500 to be paid by the appellant and refused to award party costs to the municipality, which had acted in an official capacity in the underlying dispute.
Art. 32 al. 2 LTF; withdrawal of appeal and striking from the docket. When an appeal is withdrawn, the instructing judge orders the case removed from the docket. Judicial costs are borne by the withdrawing appellant, and may be reduced. A public authority acting in the exercise of its official functions in the underlying dispute is not entitled to party costs in federal proceedings (Art. 68 al. 3 LTF).

Vu:
le recours en matière de droit public et le recours constitutionnel subsidiaire formés par X.________ contre l'arrêt rendu le 28 juin 2007 par le Tribunal administratif du canton de Vaud, dans une contestation relative au remboursement de frais de formation à la commune de Gland, ancien employeur du recourant;
la déclaration de retrait des recours, adressée au Tribunal fédéral par le recourant le 25 avril 2008, le Tribunal du travail du canton du Valais s'étant déclaré compétent dans cette même affaire;
considérant:
qu'en vertu de l'art. 32 al. 2 LTF, le juge instructeur statue sur la radiation du rôle des procédures achevées par un retrait;
que les frais judiciaires, réduits, doivent être mis à la charge du recourant (art. 66 al. 1 et 2 LTF);
que, d'après l'arrêt attaqué, le recourant bénéficiait du statut de fonctionnaire communal, en tant qu'agent de police;
que dans la contestation devant le Tribunal administratif, la commune agissait donc dans l'exercice de ses attributions officielles;
que la commune n'a, dans ces conditions, pas droit à des dépens pour la procédure devant le Tribunal fédéral (art. 68 al. 3 LTF);
par ces motifs, le Juge instructeur ordonne:

La cause est rayée du rôle par suite de retrait du recours en matière de droit public et du recours constitutionnel subsidiaire.
2.
Les frais judiciaires, arrêtés à 500 fr., sont mis à la charge du recourant.
3.
Il n'est pas alloué de dépens.
4.
La présente ordonnance est communiquée aux mandataires des parties, au Tribunal cantonal du canton de Vaud (Cour de droit administratif et public) ainsi que, pour information, au Tribunal du travail du canton du Valais.
