X.________ AG challenged a cantonal procurement judgment before the Federal Supreme Court by both a subsidiary constitutional complaint and a public law appeal. Before the Court ruled on the merits, the appellant withdrew both remedies. The II. public law division therefore discontinued the proceedings. As the withdrawal was unconditional, the appellant was treated as the losing party for costs and had to pay CHF 1,500 in court costs. It also had to pay CHF 1,500 in party compensation to the respondent, while the Canton of Valais received no compensation.
Art. 32 BGG; withdrawal of appeal and discontinuance of proceedings; costs and party compensation. Where an appeal is withdrawn unconditionally, the presiding judge may strike the case off the list by order under Art. 32 BGG. For purposes of Art. 66 BGG, the withdrawing appellant is treated as the losing party and bears the federal court costs. If the respondent has filed submissions in the appellate proceedings, party compensation may be awarded under Art. 68 Abs. 1 and 2 BGG. Public authorities have no entitlement to compensation under Art. 68 Abs. 3 BGG.

in die subsidiäre Verfassungsbeschwerde vom 17. Juli 2008 und die Beschwerde in öffentlich-rechtlichen Angelegenheiten der X.________ AG gegen das Urteil des Kantonsgerichts Wallis, Öffentlichrechtliche Abteilung, vom 11. Juli 2008 betreffend Arbeitsvergabe,
in das Schreiben des Vertreters der Beschwerdeführerin vom 15. September 2008, womit beide Beschwerden zurückgezogen werden,
in Erwägung,
dass das Verfahren gestützt auf Art. 32 Abs. 2 BGG mit Verfügung des Instruktionsrichters bzw. des Abteilungspräsidenten (vgl. Art. 32 Abs. 1 BGG) abgeschrieben werden kann, wobei über die Gerichtskosten zu entscheiden und die Höhe einer (allfälligen) Parteientschädigung zu bestimmen ist (Art. 5 Abs. 2 BZP in Verbindung mit Art. 71 BGG),
dass die Beschwerdeführerin, welche die Beschwerde vorbehaltlos zurückgezogen hat, im Hinblick auf die Kostenregelung als unterliegende Partei zu betrachten ist,
dass der Beschwerdeführerin mithin die Kosten des bundesgerichtlichen Verfahrens aufzuerlegen sind (Art. 66 Abs. 1 und 3 BGG) und sie zur Bezahlung einer Parteientschädigung an den Beschwerdegegner, dessen Vertreter eine Stellungnahme zum Gesuch um aufschiebende Wirkung verfasst hat, zu verpflichten ist (Art. 68 Abs. 1 und 2 BGG),
dass der Kanton Wallis keinen Anspruch auf Parteientschädigung hat (Art. 68 Abs. 3 BGG),
verfügt der Präsident:

Das Verfahren wird infolge Rückzugs der Beschwerde abgeschrieben.
2.
Die Gerichtskosten von Fr. 1'500.-- werden der Beschwerdeführerin auferlegt.
3.
Die Beschwerdeführerin hat den Beschwerdegegner für das bundesgerichtliche Verfahren mit Fr. 1'500.-- zu entschädigen.
4.
Diese Verfügung wird den Parteien sowie dem Staatsrat des Kantons Wallis und dem Kantonsgericht Wallis, Öffentlichrechtliche Abteilung, schriftlich mitgeteilt.

The proceedings were struck off the list because both appeals had been withdrawn unconditionally.
Under Art. 32 BGG, the presiding judge may discontinue the proceedings by order when the appeal is withdrawn.
Allocation of federal court costs after withdrawal of the appeal.
The appellant was ordered to pay court costs of CHF 1,500.
A party that withdraws its appeal without reservation is treated as the losing party for cost purposes.
Entitlement to party compensation in favor of the respondent and the canton.
The appellant must pay the respondent CHF 1,500 in party compensation; the Canton of Valais is not entitled to compensation.
The respondent had filed a submission on the request for suspensive effect, justifying compensation; the canton had no right to compensation under Art. 68(3) BGG.
