The appellant withdrew his appeal against the Geneva Court of Justice in an auction matter. The Federal Supreme Court took note of the withdrawal, struck the case from the roll, annulled the two prior presidential orders setting response deadlines, and ordered the appellant to pay reduced court costs of CHF 500 as well as reduced party compensation of CHF 600 to the respondent.

Upon valid withdrawal of the appeal, the Federal Supreme Court takes note thereof and removes the case from the roll; pending procedural orders rendered unnecessary by the withdrawal are annulled. The withdrawing appellant generally bears the reduced judicial costs and owes a reduced indemnity for party costs to the respondent pursuant to Arts. 66 al. 2 and 3 and 68 al. 4 LTF, in conjunction with the applicable costs regulation (consid. 1).

Vu:
le recours interjeté le 10 janvier 2011 par A.________ contre l'arrêt de la Cour de justice du canton de Genève du 19 novembre 2010 dans la cause précitée;
l'ordonnance présidentielle du 12 janvier 2011 invitant l'intimée à se déterminer sur la requête d'effet suspensif jusqu'au 27 janvier 2011 et à déposer une éventuelle réponse au recours jusqu'au 14 février 2011;
l'ordonnance présidentielle du 10 février 2011 prolongeant le délai pour la réponse au recours jusqu'au 4 mars 2011;
la détermination de l'intimée sur la requête d'effet suspensif du 27 janvier 2011;
la lettre du 22 février 2011 par laquelle le recourant déclare retirer le recours;
considérant:
qu'il y a lieu de prendre acte du retrait du recours et de rayer la cause du rôle (art. 32 al. 2 LTF);
que le recourant supporte les frais judiciaires réduits et verse à l'intimée une indemnité de dépens réduits (art. 66 al. 2 et 3, art. 68 al. 4 LTF; art 8 al. 3 du Règlement sur les dépens alloués à la partie adverse [RS 173.110.210.3]);
par ces motifs, la Présidente ordonne:

Les ordonnances présidentielles du 12 janvier et 10 février 2011 invitiant l'intimée à déposer une réponse éventuelle au recours jusqu'au 14 février 2011 et prolongeant ce délai jusqu'au 4 mars 2011 sont annulées.
2.
La cause est rayée du rôle par suite de retrait du recours.
3.
Les frais judiciaires, arrêtés à 500 fr., sont mis à la charge du recourant.
4.
Le recourant versera à l'intimée une indemnité de 600 fr. à titre de dépens.
5.
La présente ordonnance est communiquée aux parties et à la Cour de justice du canton de Genève, Chambre civile.

Whether the appeal should be taken off the docket after the appellant's withdrawal.
The court took note of the withdrawal and struck the case from the roll.
A withdrawal of the appeal renders the proceedings moot; under Art. 32(2) LTF the case must be removed from the docket.
Allocation of court costs and party costs after withdrawal of the appeal.
Reduced court costs were charged to the appellant and he was ordered to pay reduced party compensation to the respondent.
Under Arts. 66(2)-(3) and 68(4) LTF, together with Art. 8(3) of the costs regulation, the withdrawing appellant bears the reduced costs and must compensate the respondent.
