l'ordonnance présidentielle du 1er avril 2014 invitant l'intimé à se déterminer sur la requête d'effet suspensif et à déposer une réponse éventuelle au recours jusqu'au 7 mai 2014;
la lettre du 29 avril 2014 par laquelle le mandataire des recourants déclare retirer le recours;
qu'il y a lieu de prendre acte de ce retrait et de rayer la cause du rôle (art. 32 al. 2 LTF);
que les recourants supportent les frais judiciaires réduits (art. 66 al. 2 LTF);
L'ordonnance présidentielle du 1er avril 2014 invitant l'intimé à se déterminer sur la requête d'effet suspensif et à déposer une réponse éventuelle au recours jusqu'au 7 mai 2014 est annulée.
La cause est rayée du rôle par suite de retrait du recours.
Les frais judiciaires, arrêtés à 300 fr., sont mis à la charge des recourants.
Il n'est pas alloué de dépens à l'intimé.
La présente ordonnance est communiquée aux parties et à la Cour de justice du canton de Genève, Chambre des baux et loyers.
