la réponse au recours de l'intimée;
la lettre du 1er novembre 2010 par laquelle le mandataire de la recourante déclare retirer le recours;
considérant:
qu'il y a lieu de prendre acte du retrait du recours et de rayer la cause du rôle (art. 32 al. 2 LTF et art. 73 PCF en relation avec l'art. 71 LTF);
que les frais judiciaires réduits doivent être mis à la charge de la recourante, qui paiera en outre à l'intimée une indemnité à titre de dépens réduits (art. 66 al. 2 et 3, art. 68 al. 4 et art. 8 al. 2 du règlement du 31 mars 2006 sur les dépens alloués à la partie adverse et sur l'indemnité pour la représentation d'office dans les causes portées devant le Tribunal fédéral [RS 173.110.210.3]);
par ces motifs, le Juge instructeur ordonne:

La cause est rayée du rôle par suite de retrait du recours.
2.
Les frais judiciaires, arrêtés à 500 fr., sont mis à la charge de la recourante.
3.
Une indemnité de 1'000 fr., à payer à l'intimée à titre de dépens, est mise à la charge de la recourante.
4.
La présente ordonnance est communiquée aux mandataires des parties et à la Chambre d'appel en matière de baux et loyers du canton de Genève.

Whether the appeal should be taken off the docket after withdrawal.
The court took note of the withdrawal and removed the case from the docket.
Once the appellant declared withdrawal, there was no need to continue the proceedings; the case had to be struck from the list pursuant to the cited procedural rules.
Allocation of reduced court costs and costs to the respondent after withdrawal.
Reduced judicial costs of CHF 500 were charged to the appellant, and it had to pay CHF 1,000 in reduced party compensation to the respondent.
Because the appeal was withdrawn, the appellant had to bear the reduced judicial fees and pay reduced costs to the opposing party under the applicable Federal Supreme Court cost rules.
