RE:	The tariff classification of 2,6-Dichlorothiophenol (CAS 24966-39-0) from France.

Dear Mr. Chivini:

	In your letter dated March 18, 1996, you requested a tariff classification ruling for 2,6-dichlorothiophenol which you have stated is used as a pharmaceutical intermediate.

	The applicable subheading will be 2930.90.2900, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for organo-sulfur compounds:  other.  The rate of duty will be 6.6 percent ad valorem.     

	This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
