RURAL POST ROADS, AUTHORIZED
                   Act of Apr. 5, 1917, P.L. 37, No. 18               Cl. 36
                                  AN ACT

     Concerning the construction of rural post-roads; and giving the
        assent of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to the provisions
        of an act of Congress, approved July eleventh, one thousand
        nine hundred sixteen, entitled "An act to provide that the
        United States shall aid the States in the construction of
        rural post-roads, and for other purposes," and conferring
        certain powers upon the State Highway Department.

        Whereas, An act of Congress, approved July eleventh, one
     thousand nine hundred sixteen, providing for United States aid
     in the construction of State rural post-roads; and
        Whereas, The act of Congress providing for said aid requires
     the States receiving the benefits of said act to signify their
     assent to the same; and
        Whereas, The Governor of the Commonwealth, in accordance with
     the provisions of said act, has already signified the assent of
     this Commonwealth to the purposes and conditions thereof,
     pending the action of the State Legislature; therefore:--
        Section 1.  Be it enacted, &c., That the assent of the
     Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is hereby given to the act of
     Congress, approved July eleventh, one thousand nine hundred
     sixteen, entitled "An act to provide that the Unites States
     shall aid the States in the construction of rural post-roads,
     and for other purposes," with all its provisions and conditions,
     and further pledges the faith of the Commonwealth to make
     adequate provisions to meet the Federal apportionment and
     properly to maintain the roads so constructed.
        Section 2.  The State Highway Department, through its head,
     the State Highway Commissioner, is hereby authorized to enter
     into all necessary contracts and agreements with the Secretary
     of Agriculture of the Unites States for the purpose of carrying
     into effect the provisions of said act of Congress.
        Section 3.  The Secretary of the Commonwealth is hereby
     directed to forward a certified copy of this act to the
     Secretary of Agriculture of the United States.
