AN ACT
Designating the first Monday after February 4 of each year as Rosa Parks Remembrance Day.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. Designation.
Annually the first Monday following February 4th, the birthday of Rosa Parks, is designated as Rosa Parks Remembrance Day, a day to remember the courage of the "Mother of the Civil Rights Movement" and her contribution to the history and culture of this nation.
Section 2. Citizens.
All citizens of this Commonwealth, in particular those responsible for and attending our schools, are urged to commemorate Mrs. Parks' courageous refusal to comply with a bus driver's humiliating order to give up her seat, and reflect on the importance of everyone's civil rights.
Section 3. Effective date.
This act shall take effect in 60 days.
