The CIR may be queried in individual cases for the prevention, detection or investigation of terrorist offences or other serious criminal offences if the conditions set out in Article 22 paragraph 1 of Regulations (EU) 2019/8171and (EU) 2019/8182are met.
The following authorities may make such queries:
fedpol;
the FIS;
the Office of the Attorney General of Switzerland;
the cantonal police and prosecution authorities and the police authorities of the cities of Zurich, Winterthur, Lausanne, Chiasso and Lugano;
3 the FOCBS employees responsible for prosecutions.
If the query shows that data are stored in the CIR, a reference to the relevant Schengen/Dublin Information System is displayed as the result.
In order to obtain the data from this information system, the authorities referred to in paragraph 1 must request these data from fedpol's Operations Centre. The requirements and procedures that apply to the respective information system apply.
