The responsible cantonal bodies may obtain information and request documents where this is required to establish the circumstances of a case.
The obligation to provide information applies to:
persons and businesses that offer goods for sale to consumers or that manufacture, purchase or trade in such goods;
persons and businesses that offer, provide, broker or make use of services;
private sector organisations;
organisations of national or regional importance which, in accordance with their articles, are dedicated to consumer protection.
The obligation to provide information ceases to apply if the right to refuse to testify under Article 42 of the Federal Act of 4 December 19471on Federal Civil Procedure applies.
