A general permit may be issued to foreign airlines to perform security duties on the territory of Swiss airports.
A general permit may be issued to the foreign authority responsible for aviation security to avert criminal acts and protect air passengers on board aircraft.
A general permit may only be issued if the foreign authority or foreign airline guarantees that any person who carries out a function in accordance with paragraphs 1 or 2:
is authorised to carry a weapon under the law of the foreign state concerned; and
has adequate training.
The general permit regulates the places of deployment, the type of weapons, co-operation with the local authorities and the scope of security duties.
