The Confederation may in terms of the Federal Research Act of 7 October 19831support scientific research in the following fields in particular:

  1. the mode of action of substances that induce addiction;
  2. the causes and effects of disorders associated with addiction;
  3. preventive and therapeutic measures;
  4. the prevention or reduction of disorders associated with addiction;
  5. the effectiveness of reintegration measures.
