Der Präsident hat in Erwägung,
dass das Obergericht des Kantons Luzern mit Urteil vom 11. September 2007 die vom Beschwerdeführer gegen seine ehemalige Arbeitgeberin, die Beschwerdegegnerin, erhobene Klage auf Zahlung von Fr. 85'430.40 Schadenersatz abwies;
dass der Beschwerdeführer mit Eingabe vom 1. Oktober 2007 beim Bundesgericht erklärte, das Urteil des Obergerichts mit Beschwerde anfechten zu wollen, und das Gesuch stellte, ihm für das bundesgerichtliche Verfahren die unentgeltliche Rechtspflege zu gewähren;
dass in den Rechtsmitteln an das Bundesgericht unter Bezugnahme auf die Erwägungen des angefochtenen Entscheides dargelegt werden muss, welche Rechte der beschwerdeführenden Partei durch das kantonale Gericht verletzt worden sind (Art. 42 Abs. 2 BGG), wobei eine allfällige Verletzung der bundesrechtlichen Grundrechte oder kantonaler verfassungsmässiger Rechte vom Bundesgericht nicht von Amtes wegen geprüft wird, sondern nur dann, wenn entsprechende Rügen in der Beschwerdeschrift ausdrücklich erhoben und begründet werden (Art. 106 Abs. 2 BGG);
dass die Eingabe des Beschwerdeführers vom 1. Oktober 2007 diesen Anforderungen offensichtlich nicht genügt, weshalb auf seine Beschwerde mangels hinreichender Begründung nicht einzutreten ist (Art. 108 Abs. 1 lit. b BGG);
dass unter den gegebenen Umständen auf die Erhebung einer Gerichtsgebühr zu verzichten ist (Art. 66 Abs. 1 zweiter Satz BGG), womit das Gesuch um Befreiung von den Gerichtskosten gegenstandslos wird;
erkannt:

Auf die Beschwerde wird nicht eingetreten.

Es werden keine Gerichtskosten erhoben.
3.
Dieses Urteil wird den Parteien und dem Obergericht des Kantons Luzern, I. Kammer als Appellationsinstanz, schriftlich mitgeteilt.
