This Act may be cited as the Mental Health Patient Travel Act.

The Department of Human Services may establish and maintain a trust fund to be known as the "Patient Travel Trust Fund". This trust fund shall be used for advancing money for travel expenses in connection with the travel or transfer of patients in State mental health and developmental disabilities facilities, whether such travel or transfer is within this State or to or from other states, including the travel expenses of employees designated to accompany the patients. The trust fund shall be established and reimbursed from any applicable appropriation for travel expenses of the Department of Human Services (as successor to the Department of Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities).
