Erwägungen:

X.________ reichte am 24. November 2011 beim Bundesgericht Beschwerde in öffentlich-rechtlichen Angelegenheiten gegen das Urteil des Verwaltungsgerichts des Kantons Zürich vom 28. September 2011 ein. Mit Schreiben vom 30. Mai 2012 teilte sie dem Bundesgericht mit, dass sie die von der Streitsache betroffene Liegenschaft verkauft habe und die Käufer nicht in den Rechtsstreit eintreten möchten. Sie beantragt deshalb, den Prozess als gegenstandslos geworden abzuschreiben.

Die Beschwerdeführerin hat mit ihrem Schreiben vom 30. Mai 2012 sinngemäss den Rückzug der Beschwerde erklärt. Das Verfahren ist somit als erledigt abzuschreiben (Art. 32 Abs. 2 BGG).
Die Gerichtskosten sind der Beschwerdeführerin aufzuerlegen (Art. 66 Abs. 1-3 BGG). Diese hat den privaten Beschwerdegegnern eine angemessene Parteientschädigung zu bezahlen (Art. 68 BGG).
Demnach verfügt der Instruktionsrichter:

Das Verfahren 1C_533/2011 wird infolge Rückzugs der Beschwerde abgeschrieben.
2.
Die Gerichtskosten von Fr. 1'000.-- werden der Beschwerdeführerin auferlegt.
3.
Die Beschwerdeführerin hat den Beschwerdegegnern 1-3 eine Parteientschädigung von insgesamt Fr. 2'000.-- zu bezahlen.
4.
Diese Verfügung wird den Parteien, dem Gemeinderat Wettswil am Albis und dem Verwaltungsgericht des Kantons Zürich, 1. Abteilung, 1. Kammer, schriftlich mitgeteilt.

The proceedings were discontinued because the appellant effectively withdrew the appeal.
By her letter of 30 May 2012, the appellant stated that the property had been sold and that the buyers would not join the dispute; this amounted to a withdrawal within the meaning of Art. 32(2) BGG.
Allocation of court costs and party compensation after withdrawal.
Court costs were charged to the appellant, and she had to pay the respondents party compensation.
Under the rules on costs after termination of the proceedings, the withdrawing appellant bears the costs and must compensate the private respondents.
