X. challenged the Solothurn tax authorities' refusal to grant remission of 2010 cantonal and federal taxes. The cantonal tax court had upheld the refusal. The Federal Supreme Court held that an ordinary public law appeal was excluded for tax remission decisions. Treating the filing, at most, as a subsidiary constitutional complaint, the Court found no admissible constitutional arguments and noted that the appellant largely lacked standing because there is no legal entitlement to tax remission. The Court therefore dismissed the filing without costs in simplified procedure.
Art. 83 lit. m, Art. 113 ff., Art. 115 lit. b, Art. 116 and Art. 106 Abs. 2 BGG; tax remission decisions are excluded from the ordinary public law appeal. They may, at most, be challenged by subsidiary constitutional complaint, which is limited to alleged violations of constitutional rights and requires specific pleading and substantiation. In the absence of any properly raised constitutional claim, and where no legal entitlement to remission exists, standing is generally lacking. Such manifestly inadmissible submissions are dealt with by the single judge in simplified procedure under Art. 108 BGG; costs may be waived under Art. 66 Abs. 1 second sentence BGG.

Nach Einsicht
in das Urteil des Kantonalen Steuergerichts Solothurn vom 13. August 2012, welches die Rechtsmittel (Rekurs betreffend Staatssteuern, Beschwerde betreffend direkte Bundessteuer) von X.________ gegen die Verfügung des Finanzdepartements des Kantons Solothurn vom 8. Mai 2012 abwies, womit dessen Begehren um Erlass der Staatssteuern 2010 in Höhe von Fr. 989.20 und der direkten Bundessteuer 2010 in Höhe von Fr. 84.70 abgelehnt worden war,
in die an das Bundesgericht adressierte, als "Widerspruch gegen das Urteil Steuergericht Kanton Solothurn" bezeichnete Eingabe von X.________ vom 24. Oktober 2012,
in Erwägung,
dass das angefochtene Urteil des Kantonalen Steuergerichts ein Entscheid über den Erlass von Abgaben ist, wogegen die Beschwerde in öffentlich-rechtlichen Angelegenheiten unzulässig ist (Art. 83 lit. m BGG),
dass mithin als bundesrechtliches Rechtsmittel - höchstens - die subsidiäre Verfassungsbeschwerde (Art. 113 ff. BGG) in Betracht fällt, womit - einzig - die Verletzung verfassungsmässiger Rechte gerügt werden kann (Art. 116 BGG),
dass entsprechende Rügen spezifischer Geltendmachung und Begründung bedürfen (Art. 106 Abs. 2 BGG),
dass der Beschwerdeführer kein verfassungsmässiges Recht nennt und keine zulässigen Rügen erhebt,
dass ihm, mangels Rechtsanspruchs auf Steuererlass, ohnehin weitgehend die Legitimation zur Verfassungsbeschwerde fehlte (Art. 115 lit. b BGG; spezifisch zum Steuererlass nach Solothurnischem Recht Urteil 2D_17/2012 vom 19. März 2012, zum Erlass der direkten Bundessteuer Urteil 2D_41/2012 und 2D_42/2012 vom 6. August 2012 E. 2.2, je mit Hinweisen; s. auch BGE 133 I 185),
dass auf die offensichtlich unzulässige Beschwerde mit Entscheid des Einzelrichters im vereinfachten Verfahren nach Art. 108 BGG nicht einzutreten ist,
dass die Umstände es rechtfertigen, auf die Erhebung von Gerichtskosten zu verzichten (Art. 66 Abs. 1 zweiter Satz BGG),
erkennt der Präsident:

Auf die Beschwerde wird nicht eingetreten.

Es werden keine Kosten erhoben.
3.
Dieses Urteil wird den Verfahrensbeteiligten, dem Kantonalen Steuergericht Solothurn sowie der Eidgenössischen Steuerverwaltung schriftlich mitgeteilt.
