The Swiss Federal Supreme Court dealt with an appeal against a Zurich Social Insurance Court judgment ordering the appellant to pay CHF 46,558 plus default interest in a dispute over insurance daily allowances. After the court warned that the initial filing did not satisfy the requirements for a federal appeal, the appellant filed a second submission. The Federal Supreme Court held that neither filing explained, with reference to the contested reasoning, which rights had been violated. Because the appeal did not meet the statutory reasoning requirements, it was not admitted. The appellant was ordered to pay court costs of CHF 500.
Art. 42 Abs. 2 BGG, Art. 106 Abs. 2 BGG, Art. 108 Abs. 1 lit. b BGG; requirements for reasoning of an appeal to the Federal Supreme Court. The appellant must, by reference to the contested reasoning, set out in a substantiated manner which rights were violated by the cantonal decision. In complaints alleging violation of constitutional rights or cantonal constitutional rights, the Federal Supreme Court examines such grievances only if they are expressly invoked and reasoned. A submission that merely announces an appeal or reiterates disagreement with the result without engaging with the grounds of the decision is inadmissible for insufficient reasoning.

In Erwägung,
dass das Sozialversicherungsgericht des Kantons Zürich den Beschwerdeführer auf Klage der Beschwerdegegnerin mit Urteil vom 13. Februar 2008 zur Zahlung von Fr. 46'558.-- nebst Verzugszins zu 5 % seit 18. Dezember 2003 verpflichtete;
dass der Beschwerdeführer dem Bundesgericht eine vom 20. März 2008 datierte Eingabe einreichte, in der er erklärte, das Urteil des Sozialversicherungsgerichts vom 13. Februar 2008 mit Beschwerde anzufechten;
dass das Bundesgericht den Beschwerdeführer mit Verfügung vom 26. März 2008 darauf hinwies, dass seine Eingabe vom 20. März 2008 die Anforderungen an eine Beschwerdeschrift an das Bundesgericht nicht erfülle, und ihn aufforderte, diesen Mangel innerhalb der Beschwerdefrist zu verbessern;
dass der Beschwerdeführer darauf dem Bundesgericht eine weitere, vom 17. April 2008 datierte Eingabe einreichte;
dass in den Rechtsmitteln an das Bundesgericht unter Bezugnahme auf die Erwägungen des angefochtenen Entscheides dargelegt werden muss, welche Rechte der beschwerdeführenden Partei durch das kantonale Gericht verletzt worden sind (Art. 42 Abs. 2 BGG), wobei eine allfällige Verletzung der bundesrechtlichen Grundrechte oder kantonaler verfassungsmässiger Rechte vom Bundesgericht nicht von Amtes wegen geprüft wird, sondern nur dann, wenn entsprechende Rügen in der Beschwerdeschrift ausdrücklich erhoben und begründet werden (Art. 106 Abs. 2 BGG);
dass weder die Eingabe des Beschwerdeführers vom 20. März 2008 noch jene vom 17. April 2008 diese Begründungsanforderungen erfüllt, weshalb auf die Beschwerde mangels hinreichender Begründung nicht einzutreten ist (Art. 108 Abs. 1 lit. b BGG);
dass die Gerichtskosten dem Beschwerdeführer aufzuerlegen sind (Art. 66 Abs. 1 und 3 BGG);
erkennt der Präsident:

Auf die Beschwerde wird nicht eingetreten.

Die Gerichtskosten von Fr. 500.-- werden dem Beschwerdeführer auferlegt.

Dieses Urteil wird den Parteien und dem Sozialversicherungsgericht des Kantons Zürich schriftlich mitgeteilt.
