X.________ SA filed a federal civil appeal against a cantonal decision that treated its lower-court appeal as not filed because the advance on costs had not been paid. Before the Federal Tribunal, however, the company only contested the underlying claim and did not challenge the cantonal court's reasoning. The Federal Tribunal held that the appeal failed to satisfy the motivation requirements of Arts. 42(2) and 106(2) LTF, declared it manifestly inadmissible under the simplified procedure, found the request for suspensive effect moot, and charged court costs to the appellant.

An appeal is inadmissible where the appellant merely restates the merits of the dispute without engaging with the considerations of the cantonal decision. In cases subject to the requirement of qualified reasoning, the appellant must set out, in a specific and directed manner, which considerations are alleged to be unlawful. Failing this, the Federal Tribunal may dispose of the matter in simplified procedure as manifestly inadmissible; ancillary requests, such as suspensive effect, then become moot (consid. 1). Court costs are borne by the unsuccessful appellant under Art. 66 al. 1 LTF.

que, par arrêt du 5 mars 2014, le Président de la Cour des poursuites et faillites du Tribunal cantonal du canton de Vaud a, en application de l'art. 101 al. 3 CPC, considéré le recours interjeté par la société X.________ SA contre la décision de mainlevée définitive de l'opposition (poursuite n° xxxx) du 20 novembre 2013 du Juge de paix du district de la Riviera - Pays-d'Enhaut comme non avenu et a rayé l'affaire du rôle au motif que l'avance de frais n'avait pas été effectuée dans le délai imparti, bien que celui-ci ait été prolongé à deux reprises;
que, par acte du 10 avril 2014, X.________ SA forme un recours en matière civile au Tribunal fédéral contre cette décision, sollicitant en outre l'octroi de l'effet suspensif à son recours;
que la recourante se borne toutefois dans son recours à contester le bien-fondé de la créance;
que le recours, qui ne contient en conséquence aucune critique des considérants de la décision cantonale querellée, ne satisfait nullement aux exigences de motivation posées par les art. 42 al. 2 et 106 al. 2 LTF;
que, dans ces circonstances, le présent recours, manifestement irrecevable, doit être traité selon la procédure simplifiée prévue à l'art. 108 al. 1 let. b LTF;
que la requête d'effet suspensif devient ainsi sans objet;
que les frais judiciaires doivent être mis à la charge de la recourante (art. 66 al. 1 LTF);
Le recours est irrecevable.
Les frais judiciaires, arrêtés à 700 fr., sont mis à la charge de la recourante.
Le présent arrêt est communiqué aux parties et au Président de la Cour des poursuites et faillites du Tribunal cantonal du canton de Vaud.

Whether the federal civil appeal complied with the requirements of reasoning.
It did not; the appeal contained no criticism of the cantonal court's reasoning and merely disputed the existence of the debt.
Under Arts. 42(2) and 106(2) LTF, the appellant had to address the contested reasoning. Since it failed to do so, the appeal was manifestly inadmissible and subject to simplified procedure under Art. 108(1)(b) LTF.
