In a divorce case, the appellant challenged the cantonal judgment and requested suspensive effect. The Federal Supreme Court held that the appeal period had expired on 26 May 2014, even accounting for the statutory suspension of deadlines during Easter. Because the appeal was handed to the post only on 28 May 2014, it was manifestly late and therefore inadmissible. The request for suspensive effect became moot. Court costs of CHF 500 were imposed on the appellant.
Art. 100 Abs. 1, Art. 48 Abs. 1 and Art. 46 Abs. 1 lit. a BGG; timeliness of the appeal as a prerequisite for entering into the matter. The appeal must be filed within 30 days of notification, subject to statutory suspensions of time limits. If the appeal is handed to the post after expiry of the deadline, the Federal Supreme Court does not enter on the matter under Art. 108 Abs. 1 lit. a BGG. A request for suspensive effect loses its object when the appeal is inadmissible. Costs are borne by the unsuccessful party pursuant to Art. 66 Abs. 1 BGG.

in das Gesuch des Beschwerdeführers um aufschiebende Wirkung,
in Erwägung,
dass die Beschwerde nach Art. 72 ff. BGG innert 30 Tagen nach der Eröffnung des kantonalen Entscheids beim Bundesgericht einzureichen oder zu dessen Handen der Schweizerischen Post zu übergeben ist (Art. 100 Abs. 1, 48 Abs. 1 BGG),
dass der Beschluss und das Urteil des Obergerichts vom 3. April 2014 der Rechtsvertreterin des Beschwerdeführers am 11. April 2014 eröffnet worden sind,
dass die Beschwerdefrist (unter Berücksichtigung des Friststillstandes gemäss Art. 46 Abs. 1 lit. a BGG vom 13. April bis 27. April 2014) entgegen der Auffassung des Beschwerdeführers am 26. Mai 2014 (Montag) abgelaufen ist,
dass der Beschwerdeführer die Beschwerde an das Bundesgericht erst am 28. Mai 2014 und damit nach Ablauf der Beschwerdefrist der Post übergeben hat,
dass sich somit die Beschwerde als verspätet und daher als offensichtlich unzulässig erweist, weshalb darauf im Verfahren nach Art. 108 Abs. 1 lit. a BGG nicht einzutreten ist,
dass das Gesuch um aufschiebende Wirkung mit dem Beschwerdeentscheid gegenstandslos wird,
dass der unterliegende Beschwerdeführer kostenpflichtig wird (Art. 66 Abs. 1 BGG),
dass in den Fällen des Art. 108 Abs. 1 BGG das vereinfachte Verfahren zum Zuge kommt und der Abteilungspräsident zuständig ist,
Auf die Beschwerde wird nicht eingetreten.
Die Gerichtskosten von Fr. 500.-- werden dem Beschwerdeführer auferlegt.
Dieses Urteil wird den Parteien und dem Obergericht des Kantons Zürich schriftlich mitgeteilt.

No. The time limit expired on 2014-05-26, but the appeal was handed to the post only on 2014-05-28.
The appeal period under Art. 100(1) and Art. 48(1) BGG, taking into account the statutory suspension period under Art. 46(1)(a) BGG, had already expired when the filing was posted.
Whether the request for suspensive effect could be examined
No. It became moot because the appeal itself was not admissible.
