Der Einzelrichter zieht in Erwägung:

Das Obergericht des Kantons Zürich trat am 26. November 2012 auf eine kantonale Beschwerde nicht ein, weil sich der Beschwerdeführer darin nicht wie aufgefordert mit den Erwägungen der angefochtenen Einstellungsverfügung auseinandergesetzt und nicht dargelegt hatte, weshalb sie falsch sein sollte (act. 3). Der Beschwerdeführer wandte sich mit einer "Einsprache" dagegen ans Bundesgericht, in welcher nur auf die Akten beim Bezirksgericht Dietikon verwiesen wurde (act. 1). Nachdem ihm erklärt worden war, dass der Hinweis auf die Akten als Begründung nicht ausreiche, die Beschwerdefrist indessen noch laufe und er die Eingabe deshalb ergänzen könne (act. 5), reichte er fristgerecht eine weitere Rechtsschrift ein (act. 6). In dieser befasst er sich nur materiell mit der Angelegenheit, ohne zu sagen, inwieweit die Erwägung der Vorinstanz, die kantonale Beschwerde sei nicht hinreichend begründet, unrichtig oder willkürlich sein könnte. Folglich genügt die Beschwerde den Begründungsanforderungen von Art. 42 Abs. 2 BGG nicht. Darauf kann im Verfahren nach Art. 108 BGG nicht eingetreten werden.

Die Gerichtskosten sind dem Beschwerdeführer aufzuerlegen (Art. 66 Abs. 1 BGG). Das nachträgliche Gesuch um unentgeltliche Rechtspflege ist in Anwendung von Art. 64 BGG abzuweisen, weil die Rechtsbegehren aussichtslos erschienen. Der finanziellen Lage des Beschwerdeführers ist bei der Bemessung der Gerichtskosten Rechnung zu tragen (Art. 65 Abs. 2 BGG).

Demnach erkennt der Einzelrichter:

Auf die Beschwerde wird nicht eingetreten.

2.
Das Gesuch um unentgeltliche Rechtspflege wird abgewiesen.

3.
Die Gerichtskosten von Fr. 500.-- werden dem Beschwerdeführer auferlegt.

4.
Dieses Urteil wird den Parteien und dem Obergericht des Kantons Zürich, III. Strafkammer, schriftlich mitgeteilt.
