The appellant challenged a judgment of the Social Insurance Court of the Canton of Zurich in a social insurance matter. The Federal Court held that the appeal was filed after the 30-day deadline and, in any event, did not comply with the federal duty to reason the appeal. In simplified proceedings, the court therefore refused to enter into the matter. Given the circumstances, it exceptionally waived court costs.

In such a case the court may decline to enter into the matter in simplified procedure under Art. 108 BGG (consid. 1). Where the circumstances so justify, court costs may exceptionally be waived pursuant to Art. 66 Abs. 1 sentence 2 BGG (consid. 2).

in Erwägung,
dass die vorliegende Beschwerde vom 16. September 2012 (Poststempel) gegen den gemäss postamtlicher Bescheinigung am 15. August 2012 zugestellten Entscheid des Sozialversicherungsgerichts des Kantons Zürich vom 6. August 2012 nicht innert der 30-tägigen Rechtsmittelfrist (Art. 100 Abs. 1 BGG), sondern klarerweise verspätet (Art. 44-48 BGG) eingereicht worden ist,
dass deshalb bereits aus diesem Grunde auf das offensichtlich unzulässige Rechtsmittel nicht einzutreten ist (Art. 108 Abs. 1 lit. a BGG),
dass überdies die Beschwerde vom 16. September 2012 den in Art. 42 Abs. 1 und 2 BGG statuierten Formerfordernissen nicht zu genügen vermag, indem sie sich mit den für das Ergebnis des angefochtenen Entscheids massgeblichen Erwägungen der Vorinstanz nicht in einer den gesetzlichen Anforderungen an die Begründungspflicht genügenden Weise auseinandersetzt und insbesondere nicht im Einzelnen darlegt, inwiefern der angefochtene Entscheid Recht verletzen sollte (BGE 136 I 65 E. 1.3.1 S. 68 und 134 II 244 E. 2.1 S. 245 f.),
dass somit auch insoweit ein offensichtlich unzulässiges Rechtsmittel vorliegt (Art. 108 Abs. 1 lit. b BGG),
dass demzufolge auf die - insgesamt offensichtlich unzulässige - Beschwerde im vereinfachten Verfahren nach Art. 108 Abs. 1 lit. a und b BGG nicht einzutreten ist,
dass es sich bei den gegebenen Verhältnissen rechtfertigt, von der Erhebung von Gerichtskosten für das bundesgerichtliche Verfahren ausnahmsweise abzusehen (Art. 66 Abs. 1 Satz 2 BGG),
dass in den Fällen des Art. 108 Abs. 1 BGG der Abteilungspräsident zuständig ist,
erkennt der Präsident:

Auf die Beschwerde wird nicht eingetreten.

Es werden keine Gerichtskosten erhoben.
3.
Dieses Urteil wird den Parteien, dem Sozialversicherungsgericht des Kantons Zürich und dem Staatssekretariat für Wirtschaft (SECO) schriftlich mitgeteilt.
