The insured person appealed a Federal Administrative Court decision concerning invalidity insurance, but his submission failed to include proper requests or a sufficient challenge to the reasoning. The Federal Supreme Court held that the filing did not satisfy the minimum requirements of Art. 42 BGG and that the reference to a separate later statement could not cure the defect within the non-extendable appeal period. In simplified procedure, the court therefore did not enter into the appeal and, considering the circumstances, waived court costs.

Nach Einsicht
in die Beschwerde des N.________ vom 18. Oktober 2012 (Poststempel) gegen den Entscheid des Bundesverwaltungsgerichts vom 7. September 2012,

in Erwägung,
dass ein Rechtsmittel gemäss Art. 42 Abs. 1 und 2 BGG unter anderem die Begehren und deren Begründung zu enthalten hat, wobei in der Begründung in gedrängter Form darzulegen ist, inwiefern der angefochtene Entscheid Recht verletzt; dies setzt voraus, dass sich die Beschwerde führende Person konkret mit den Erwägungen des angefochtenen Entscheids auseinandersetzt (BGE 138 I 171 E. 1.4 S. 176, 136 I 65 E. 1.3.1 S. 68 und 134 II 244 E. 2.1 S. 245 f.),
dass die einzige dem Bundesgericht innert der Rechtsmittelfrist (Art. 100 Abs. 1 BGG) eingereichte Beschwerde des Versicherten diesen Mindestanforderungen offensichtlich nicht gerecht wird, da sie kein rechtsgenügliches Begehren enthält und sich der Beschwerdeführer nicht in konkreter Weise mit den Erwägungen der Vorinstanz auseinandersetzt und namentlich weder rügt noch aufzeigt, inwiefern das erstinstanzliche Gericht eine Rechtsverletzung gemäss Art. 95 f. BGG resp. eine entscheidwesentliche, offensichtlich unrichtige oder unvollständige Sachverhaltsfeststellung im Sinne von Art. 97 Abs. 1 BGG begangen haben sollte,
dass deshalb kein gültiges Rechtsmittel eingereicht worden ist, woran auch der in der Beschwerde enthaltene Hinweis auf die "Beschwerdebegründung" in einem "gesonderten Schriftsatz" nichts ändert, weil Begehren und Begründung einer Beschwerde innerhalb der gesetzlichen Rechtsmittelfrist (Art. 100 Abs. 1 BGG), die nicht erstreckbar ist (Art. 47 Abs. 1 BGG), einzureichen sind,
dass somit auf die offensichtlich unzulässige Beschwerde - ohne Ansetzung einer Nachfrist zur Verbesserung (BGE 134 II 244 E. 2.4 S. 247) - in Anwendung von Art. 108 Abs. 1 lit. b BGG nicht eingetreten werden kann,
dass es sich bei den gegebenen Verhältnissen rechtfertigt, von der Erhebung von Gerichtskosten für das bundesgerichtliche Verfahren umständehalber abzusehen (Art. 66 Abs. 1 Satz 2 BGG),
dass in den Fällen des Art. 108 Abs. 1 BGG das vereinfachte Verfahren zum Zuge kommt und der Abteilungspräsident zuständig ist,

erkennt der Präsident:

Auf die Beschwerde wird nicht eingetreten.

2.
Es werden keine Gerichtskosten erhoben.

3.
Dieses Urteil wird den Parteien, dem Bundesverwaltungsgericht und dem Bundesamt für Sozialversicherungen schriftlich mitgeteilt.
