The appellant challenged a Basel-Stadt social insurance judgment concerning a disability pension. The Federal Court found that the appeal did not meet the statutory requirements of Art. 42 BGG because it contained no adequate reasoning showing why the cantonal findings of fact were wrong or legally flawed. In simplified procedure, the court therefore did not enter into the appeal and ordered court costs of CHF 300 against the appellant.

in die Mitteilung des Bundesgerichts vom 28. Juli 2008 an V.________, wonach seine Beschwerde die gesetzlichen Formerfordernisse hinsichtlich Antrag und Begründung nicht zu erfüllen scheint und eine Verbesserung nur innert der Beschwerdefrist möglich ist,
in die daraufhin dem Bundesgericht am 30. Juli 2008 (Poststempel) eingereichte Eingabe des V.________, welche nunmehr den Antrag auf ein neutrales Gutachten enthält,

in Erwägung,
dass ein Rechtsmittel gemäss Art. 42 Abs. 1 und 2 BGG unter anderem die Begehren und deren Begründung zu enthalten hat, wobei in der Begründung in gedrängter Form darzulegen ist, inwiefern der angefochtene Akt Recht verletzt,
dass die beiden Eingaben des Beschwerdeführers diesen inhaltlichen Mindestanforderungen nicht genügen, da den Ausführungen nicht entnommen werden kann, inwiefern die Sachverhaltsfeststellungen im Sinne von Art. 97 Abs. 1 BGG - soweit überhaupt beanstandet - unzutreffend und die darauf beruhenden Erwägungen rechtsfehlerhaft sein sollten,
dass deshalb im vereinfachten Verfahren nach Art. 108 Abs. 1 lit. b BGG auf die Beschwerde nicht einzutreten ist und in Anwendung von Art. 66 Abs. 1 BGG die Gerichtskosten dem Beschwerdeführer aufzuerlegen sind,
erkennt der Präsident:

Auf die Beschwerde wird nicht eingetreten.

2.
Die Gerichtskosten von Fr. 300.- werden dem Beschwerdeführer auferlegt.

3.
Dieses Urteil wird den Parteien, dem Sozialversicherungsgericht Basel-Stadt, der Ausgleichskasse Arbeitgeber Basel und dem Bundesamt für Sozialversicherungen schriftlich mitgeteilt.
