B.________ filed a federal complaint in an invalidity insurance matter against a cantonal judgment. After the Federal Supreme Court indicated that the submission appeared not to satisfy the statutory requirements, he filed a further submission within the appeal period. The Court held that neither filing contained a sufficiently precise request or any adequate reasoning showing legal error or incorrect fact-finding. It therefore refused to enter into the appeal in simplified procedure and, exceptionally, waived court costs.

in das Schreiben des Bundesgerichts vom 20. August 2010 an B.________, wonach die Beschwerde die gesetzlichen Formerfordernisse hinsichtlich Antrages und Begründung nicht zu erfüllen scheine und eine Verbesserung nur innert der Beschwerdefrist möglich sei,
in die daraufhin von B.________ am 1. September 2010 (Poststempel) eingereichte Eingabe,
in Erwägung,
dass ein Rechtsmittel gemäss Art. 42 Abs. 1 und 2 BGG unter anderem die Begehren und deren Begründung zu enthalten hat, wobei in der Begründung in gedrängter Form darzulegen ist, inwiefern der angefochtene Akt Recht verletzt,
dass die beiden Eingaben des Beschwerdeführers diesen inhaltlichen Mindestanforderungen nicht genügen, da sie keinen rechtsgenüglichen Antrag enthalten und den Ausführungen nicht entnommen werden kann, inwiefern die Sachverhaltsfeststellung im Sinne von Art. 97 Abs. 1 BGG - soweit überhaupt beanstandet - unzutreffend und die darauf beruhenden Erwägungen rechtsfehlerhaft sein sollen,
dass deshalb im vereinfachten Verfahren nach Art. 108 Abs. 1 lit. b BGG auf die Beschwerde nicht einzutreten ist und in Anwendung von Art. 66 Abs. 1 Satz 2 BGG umständehalber auf die Erhebung von Gerichtskosten verzichtet wird,

erkennt der Präsident:

Auf die Beschwerde wird nicht eingetreten.

2.
Es werden keine Gerichtskosten erhoben.

3.
Dieses Urteil wird den Parteien, dem Verwaltungsgericht des Kantons Bern, Sozialversicherungsrechtliche Abteilung, und dem Bundesamt für Sozialversicherungen schriftlich mitgeteilt.
