The Federal Supreme Court held that the lower court properly applied the income-comparison method and was entitled to rely on the occupational medicine report concluding that the claimant remained fully capable of performing physically slightly to moderately demanding work. The differing opinion of the treating doctor did not make the finding clearly wrong. The appeal was therefore manifestly unfounded and dismissed in simplified proceedings, with costs of CHF 500 imposed on the appellant.

In Erwägung,
dass die IV-Stelle Bern das Leistungsgesuch des P.________, soweit damit ein Rentenantrag gestellt wurde, am 25. November 2005 verfügungsweise ablehnte, was sie mit Einspracheentscheid vom 30. Januar 2006 bestätigte,
dass das Verwaltungsgericht des Kantons Bern die hiegegen erhobene Beschwerde mit Entscheid vom 27. Juni 2006 abwies,
dass P.________ mit Eingaben vom 17. Juli (Poststempel) und 9. August 2006 Verwaltungsgerichtsbeschwerde führt und geltend macht, er sei mit dem vorinstanzlichen Entscheid nicht einverstanden,
dass am 1. Januar 2007 das Bundesgesetz vom 17. Juni 2005 über das Bundesgericht (BGG [AS 2006 1205 ff., 1243]) in Kraft getreten ist,
dass der angefochtene Entscheid am 27. Juni 2006 ergangen ist, weshalb sich das Verfahren noch nach dem Bundesgesetz über die Organisation der Bundesrechtspflege (OG) richtet (Art. 132 Abs. 1 BGG; BGE 132 V 393 E. 1.2 S. 395),
dass offen bleiben kann, ob die Eingaben vom 17. Juli und 9. August 2006 die Eintretensvoraussetzungen des Art. 108 OG erfüllen, da die Verwaltungsgerichtsbeschwerde materiell unbegründet ist,
dass das kantonale Gericht bei der Invaliditätsbemessung nach der Einkommensvergleichsmethode (Art. 16 ATSG sowie BGE 128 V 29 E. 1 S. 30 in Verbindung mit BGE 130 V 343) die trotz des Rückenleidens bestehende Arbeitsfähigkeit entsprechend der Einschätzung im Bericht des Zentrums für Arbeitsmedizin, Ergonomie und Hygiene X.________ GmbH vom 14. März 2005 festgelegt und gestützt darauf das Invalideneinkommen bestimmt hat,
dass es sich bei Fragen betreffend den Gesundheitszustand (Befund, Diagnose, Prognose etc.) und die trotz gesundheitlicher Beeinträchtigung zumutbare Arbeitsfähigkeit grundsätzlich um Tatfragen handelt und diesbezügliche Feststellungen des kantonalen Gerichts lediglich unter eingeschränktem Blickwinkel überprüfbar sind (Art. 132 Abs. 2 OG, in Kraft seit 1. Juli 2006 in Verbindung mit Art. 104 lit. b OG und Art. 105 Abs. 2 OG; BGE 132 V 393 E. 3.2 S. 397),
dass die vorinstanzliche Annahme einer vollständigen Arbeitsfähigkeit in körperlich knapp mittelschweren Tätigkeiten weder als offensichtlich unrichtig bezeichnet werden kann noch das Ergebnis der Beweiswürdigung eines unvollständig festgestellten Sachverhalts ist,
dass die abweichende Einschätzung des behandelnden Arztes Dr. med. F.________, Innere Medizin FMH (vgl. Berichte vom 6. September 2005 und 15. Juli 2006) daran nichts ändert,
dass die Verwaltungsgerichtsbeschwerde offensichtlich unbegründet ist, weshalb sie im vereinfachten Verfahren nach Art. 36a OG erledigt wird,
dass das Verfahren kostenpflichtig ist (Art. 134 Satz 2 OG in der seit 1. Juli 2006 geltenden Fassung),
dass entsprechend dem Prozessausgang die Gerichtskosten dem Beschwerdeführer aufzuerlegen sind (Art. 156 Abs. 1 in Verbindung mit Art. 135 OG),

erkennt das Bundesgericht:

Die Verwaltungsgerichtsbeschwerde wird abgewiesen.
2.
Die Gerichtskosten von Fr. 500.- werden dem Beschwerdeführer auferlegt und mit dem geleisteten Kostenvorschuss verrechnet.
3.
Dieses Urteil wird den Parteien, dem Verwaltungsgericht des Kantons Bern, Sozialversicherungsrechtliche Abteilung, der Ausgleichskasse Berner Arbeitgeber und dem Bundesamt für Sozialversicherungen zugestellt.
