The appellant withdrew his public law appeal against a judgment of the Wallis Cantonal Court in a land-use planning matter. The Federal Supreme Court therefore struck the proceedings off the list. Because the respondent waived a party compensation, none was awarded. Court costs of CHF 800 were imposed on the appellant.

dass der Beschwerdeführer mit Schreiben vom 9. August 2010 seine Beschwerde vom 14. Januar 2010 zurückgezogen hat;
dass das Beschwerdeverfahren somit als durch Beschwerderückzug erledigt abzuschreiben ist;
dass der Beschwerdegegner mit Schreiben vom 10. August 2010 auf eine Parteientschädigung verzichtet hat;
dass somit keine Parteientschädigung zuzusprechen ist;
dass die Gerichtskosten dem Beschwerdeführer aufzuerlegen sind;
verfügt der Instruktionsrichter:

Das Verfahren 1C_25/2010 wird infolge Rückzugs der Beschwerde abgeschrieben.
2.
Die Gerichtskosten von Fr. 800.-- werden dem Beschwerdeführer auferlegt.
3.
Diese Verfügung wird den Parteien, der Stadtgemeinde Brig-Glis, dem Staatsrat des Kantons Wallis, dem Kantonsgericht Wallis, Öffentlichrechtliche Abteilung, und dem Bundesamt für Raumentwicklung schriftlich mitgeteilt.
