The appellants withdrew their federal public-law appeal against a judgment of the Aargau Administrative Court concerning a building permit. The Federal Supreme Court therefore discontinued the proceedings and struck the appeal from the docket. In view of the withdrawal and the circumstances, the court ordered that no costs be levied. The order was communicated to the appellants, the municipal and cantonal authorities, and the cantonal court.

Where the appellants withdraw the appeal, the Federal Supreme Court strikes the case from the docket as moot by withdrawal and normally ends the proceedings without a merits ruling. dass sie die Beschwerde mit Eingabe vom 12. August 2008 zurückgezogen haben;
dass es sich unter den gegebenen Umständen rechtfertigt, für das vorliegende Verfahren keine Kosten zu erheben;
wird verfügt:

Die Beschwerde im Verfahren 1C_290/2008 wird als durch Rückzug erledigt abgeschrieben.
2.
Es werden keine Kosten erhoben.

Diese Verfügung wird den Beschwerdeführern, dem Gemeinderat Muri, dem Departement Bau, Verkehr und Umwelt sowie dem Verwaltungsgericht des Kantons Aargau, 3. Kammer, schriftlich mitgeteilt.
