X. filed a public-law appeal against a judgment of the Administrative Court of Grisons concerning transfer tax. On 6 May 2010, through counsel Dr. Luzius Schmid, he withdrew the appeal on the last day of the extended deadline for payment of the advance on costs. The Federal Supreme Court therefore discontinued the proceedings by order of the division president. It ordered court costs of CHF 300 against the appellant and denied any party compensation.
Art. 32 Abs. 1 und 2 BGG; withdrawal of appeal and discontinuance of proceedings by order of the division president. Upon valid withdrawal, the appeal proceedings are struck off the docket; the court then determines the costs pursuant to Art. 65 and Art. 66 paras. 1 and 3 BGG and, absent entitlement, denies party compensation under Art. 68 paras. 1 and 2 BGG. The discontinuance is procedural and does not entail a merits ruling on the contested judgment (cf. consid. 1).

in das Schreiben des Vertreters des Beschwerdeführers vom 6. Mai 2010, womit die Beschwerde am letzten Tag der zur Bezahlung des Kostenvorschusses angesetzten Nachfrist zurückgezogen wird,
in Erwägung,
dass das Verfahren gestützt auf Art. 32 Abs. 1 und 2 BGG mit Verfügung des Abteilungspräsidenten abgeschrieben werden kann, wobei über die Gerichtskosten zu entscheiden und die Höhe einer (allfälligen) Parteientschädigung zu bestimmen ist (Art. 5 Abs. 2 BP in Verbindung mit Art. 71 BGG),
dass die Gerichtskosten (Art. 65 BGG) dem Beschwerdeführer aufzuerlegen sind (Art. 66 Abs. 1 und 3 BGG) und er keinen Anspruch auf Parteientschädigung hat (Art. 68 Abs. 1 und 2 BGG),
verfügt der Präsident:

Das Verfahren wird infolge Rückzugs der Beschwerde abgeschrieben.

Die Gerichtskosten von Fr. 300.-- werden dem Beschwerdeführer auferlegt.

Diese Verfügung wird den Verfahrensbeteiligten und dem Verwaltungsgericht des Kantons Graubünden, 4. Kammer, schriftlich mitgeteilt.
