The appellants X., Y. and Z. challenged a Federal Administrative Court judgment concerning the classification of a pasture as non-qualifying grazing land for agricultural direct payments. Before the Federal Supreme Court, they withdrew their appeal after stating that they saw only limited prospects of success. The instruction judge therefore discontinued the proceedings by order. Court costs of CHF 1,500 were imposed jointly and severally on the appellants, and no party compensation was awarded.
Art. 32 Abs. 2 BGG; withdrawal of the appeal as a ground for discontinuance by order of the instruction judge. Upon withdrawal, the proceedings are struck off without a merits decision; court costs are allocated to the withdrawing appellants under Art. 65 and Art. 66 BGG, taking into account the procedural effort incurred, and no party compensation is due under Art. 68 BGG absent a basis for such an award.

Nach Einsicht
in die Beschwerde in öffentlich-rechtlichen Angelegenheiten von X.________, Y.________ und Z.________ vom 30. April 2012 gegen das Urteil des Bundesverwaltungsgerichts vom 9. März 2012 betreffend Qualifikation einer Weidefläche als (nicht zu Direktzahlungen berechtigende) Sömmerungsfläche,
in das Schreiben der Beschwerdeführenden vom 2. April 2013, womit sie erklären, sie würden aufgrund der von ihnen getätigten Abklärungen eine geringe Chance sehen, auf gerichtlicher Ebene Recht zu bekommen, weshalb sie ihre Beschwerde zurückziehen würden,
in Erwägung,
dass das Verfahren gestützt auf Art. 32 Abs. 2 BGG mit Verfügung des Instruktionsrichters abgeschrieben werden kann,
dass die Gerichtskosten (Art. 65 BGG) den Beschwerdeführenden aufzuerlegen sind (Art. 66 Abs. 1, 2 und 3 BGG) und sie keinen Anspruch auf Parteientschädigung haben (Art. 68 Abs. 1 und 2 BGG),
dass bei der Festsetzung der Gerichtskosten dem erheblichen Aufwand Rechnung zu tragen ist, der dem Bundesgericht für die Vorbereitung des Urteils (bereits vor der Sistierung) erwachsen ist,
verfügt der Instruktionsrichter:

Das Verfahren wird infolge Rückzugs der Beschwerde abgeschrieben.
2.
Die Gerichtskosten von Fr. 1'500.-- werden den Beschwerdeführenden unter solidarischer Haftbarkeit auferlegt.
3.
Diese Verfügung wird den Verfahrensbeteiligten, dem Bundesverwaltungsgericht, Abteilung II, dem Bundesamt für Landwirtschaft und dem Eidgenössischen Volkswirtschaftsdepartement schriftlich mitgeteilt.

The proceedings were discontinued and struck off the roll following the withdrawal of the appeal.
Under Art. 32(2) BGG, the instruction judge may close the case by order once the appeal is withdrawn.

Court costs of CHF 1,500 were imposed jointly and severally on the appellants.
The costs were charged to the withdrawing appellants under Art. 65 and Art. 66(1)-(3) BGG, with account taken of the significant preparatory work already done by the Federal Supreme Court.
Entitlement to party compensation after withdrawal of the appeal.
No party compensation was awarded to the appellants.
Because the appeal was withdrawn, the appellants had no entitlement to compensation under Art. 68(1) and (2) BGG.
