The appellant, a Turkish national born in 1979, challenged the non-renewal of his residence permit before the Federal Supreme Court. He then unreservedly withdrew the appeal by letter of 21 July 2010. The presiding judge discontinued the proceedings, ordered CHF 200 in court costs against the appellant, and denied any party compensation. The order was communicated to the parties, the Zurich Administrative Court, and the Federal Migration Office.

in das Schreiben des Beschwerdeführers vom 21. Juli 2010, worin er vorbehaltlos erklärt, die Beschwerde vom 24. Juni 2010 zurückzuziehen,
in Erwägung,
dass das Verfahren gestützt auf Art. 32 Abs. 1 und 2 BGG mit Verfügung des Abteilungspräsidenten abgeschrieben werden kann, wobei über die Gerichtskosten zu entscheiden und die Höhe einer (allfälligen) Parteientschädigung zu bestimmen ist (Art. 5 Abs. 2 BZP in Verbindung mit Art. 71 BGG),
dass die Gerichtskosten (Art. 65 BGG) dem Beschwerdeführer aufzuerlegen sind (Art. 66 Abs. 1 und 3 BGG) und er keinen Anspruch auf Parteientschädigung hat (Art. 68 Abs. 1 und 2 BGG),
verfügt der Präsident:

Das Verfahren wird infolge Rückzugs der Beschwerde abgeschrieben.

Die Gerichtskosten von Fr. 200.-- werden dem Beschwerdeführer auferlegt.

Diese Verfügung wird den Verfahrensbeteiligten, dem Verwaltungsgericht des Kantons Zürich, 2. Kammer, und dem Bundesamt für Migration schriftlich mitgeteilt.
