The appellants withdrew their constitutional complaint against the Aargau decree on teachers' salaries. The president of the II. Withdrawal of a constitutional complaint; effect on costs. A withdrawal terminates the proceedings, and the instructing judge or division president may declare the case disposed of by order. For purposes of costs, withdrawing appellants are to be treated as unsuccessful parties absent special circumstances; the federal court fee may therefore be imposed on them jointly and severally. A claim for party compensation is excluded where the withdrawing appellants are deemed to have failed (consid. with reference to Art. 5 Abs. 2 and 73 Abs. 1 BZP in conjunction with Art. 40 OG; Art. 153, 153a, 156 and 159 OG).

in das Schreiben des Vertreters der Beschwerdeführer vom 14. März 2008, womit die staatsrechtliche Beschwerde vom 31. März 2005 gegen das Dekret des Regierungsrats des Kantons Aargau vom 24. August 2004 über die Löhne der Lehrpersonen zurückgezogen wird,
in Erwägung,
dass der Rechtsstreit mit der Rückzugserklärung beendet wird und mit Verfügung des Instruktionsrichters bzw. des Abteilungspräsidenten als erledigt erklärt werden kann, wobei dieser über die Gerichtskosten entscheidet und die Höhe einer (allfälligen) Parteientschädigung bestimmt (Art. 5 Abs. 2 und 73 Abs. 1 BZP in Verbindung mit Art. 40 OG),
dass die Beschwerdeführer unter den gegebenen Umständen im Hinblick auf die Kostenregelung als unterliegende Partei zu betrachten sind, sodass ihnen die Kosten des bundesgerichtlichen Verfahrens (Art. 153 und 153a OG) zu gleichen Teilen unter Solidarhaft aufzuerlegen sind (Art. 156 Abs. 1, 6 und 7 OG) und sie keinen Anspruch auf Parteientschädigung haben (Art. 159 Abs. 1 und 2 OG),
verfügt der Präsident:

Der Rechtsstreit wird zufolge Rückzugs der staatsrechtlichen Beschwerde als erledigt erklärt.
2.
Die Gerichtsgebühr von Fr. 500.-- wird den Beschwerdeführern unter Solidarhaft auferlegt.
3.
Diese Verfügung wird den Beschwerdeführern und dem Regierungsrat des Kantons Aargau schriftlich mitgeteilt.
