The claimant appealed a dismissal of a work-contract claim worth CHF 15,575.45. The cantonal court had refused to hear the appeal because no quantified appellate request had been filed. Before the Federal Supreme Court, the matter was not admissible as a civil appeal because the value in dispute was below CHF 30,000 and no fundamental legal question was raised. Treated as a subsidiary constitutional complaint, the filing still failed because it did not adequately allege any violation of constitutional rights. The Supreme Court therefore entered no jurisdiction, imposed court costs on the appellant, and denied party compensation to the respondent.

In such proceedings, only violations of constitutional rights may be invoked; the pleading must, in a manner specific and reasoned by reference to the challenged decision, identify the constitutional guarantee allegedly breached. A merely appellatory or unsupported submission does not satisfy the strict substantiation requirements and results in non-entry under Art. 108 BGG.

In Erwägung,
dass das Bezirksgericht Dielsdorf die Klage des Beschwerdeführers auf Zahlung von Fr. 15'575.45 nebst Zins mit Urteil vom 19. März 2013 abwies;
dass der Beschwerdeführer dieses Urteil beim Obergericht des Kantons Zürich anfocht, das mit Beschluss vom 2. September 2013 auf dessen Berufung nicht eintrat;
dass in der Entscheidbegründung festgehalten wurde, dass auf das Rechtsmittel nicht eingetreten werden könne, weil kein bezifferter Berufungsantrag gestellt worden sei und auch in der Berufungsbegründung eine Bezifferung fehle;
dass der Beschwerdeführer den Beschluss des Obergerichts mit Rechtsschrift vom 3. Oktober 2013 beim Bundesgericht anfocht;
dass eine Beschwerde in Zivilsachen im vorliegenden Fall nicht zulässig ist, weil der erforderliche Streitwert von Fr. 30'000.-- (Art. 74 Abs. 1 lit. b BGG) nicht erreicht wird und sich keine Rechtsfrage von grundsätzlicher Bedeutung im Sinne vom Art. 74 Abs. 2 lit. a BGG stellt;
dass die Eingabe des Beschwerdeführers vom 3. Oktober 2013 unter diesen Umständen als subsidiäre Verfassungsbeschwerde im Sinne von Art. 113 ff. BGG zu behandeln ist;
dass mit einer solchen Beschwerde ausschliesslich die Verletzung von verfassungsmässigen Rechten gerügt werden kann (Art. 116 BGG);
dass in der Beschwerdeschrift dargelegt werden muss, welche verfassungsmässigen Rechte durch das kantonale Gericht verletzt worden sind, und solche Rügen unter Bezugnahme auf die Erwägungen des angefochtenen Entscheides zu begründen sind (Art. 106 Abs. 2 in Verbindung mit Art. 117 BGG);
dass die Eingabe des Beschwerdeführers vom 3. Oktober 2013 diese Begründungsanforderungen offensichtlich nicht erfüllt;
dass aus diesen Gründen auf die Beschwerde im Verfahren nach Art. 108 Abs. 1 lit. a und b BGG nicht einzutreten ist;
dass das Gesuch um aufschiebende Wirkung mit dem Entscheid in der Sache gegenstandslos wird;
dass die Gerichtskosten dem Beschwerdeführer aufzuerlegen sind (Art. 66 Abs. 1 BGG);
dass dem Beschwerdegegner keine Parteientschädigung zuzusprechen ist, weil ihm aus dem bundesgerichtlichen Verfahren kein Aufwand entstanden ist;
Auf die Beschwerde wird nicht eingetreten.
Die Gerichtskosten von Fr. 500.-- werden dem Beschwerdeführer auferlegt.
Dem Beschwerdegegner wird keine Parteientschädigung zugesprochen.
Dieses Urteil wird den Parteien und dem Obergericht des Kantons Zürich, I. Zivilkammer, schriftlich mitgeteilt.
