The Federal Supreme Court held that the appeal against the cantonal decision on modification of divorce protection measures was filed out of time and was therefore manifestly inadmissible. It further noted that the filing lacked the clear constitutional reasoning required for such a challenge. The request for free legal aid was denied because the appeal had no prospects of success. Court costs of CHF 500 were imposed on the appellant, and no party compensation was awarded.

An appeal lodged after expiry of the 30-day period is manifestly inadmissible and may be disposed of under Art. 108 Abs. 1 lit. a BGG. In appeals subject to Art. 98 BGG, only constitutional grievances that are clearly and specifically substantiated are admissible; absent such reasoning, the appeal is likewise inadmissible. Free legal aid is refused where the appeal lacks prospects of success. Costs are borne by the unsuccessful party; no party compensation is due absent a contrary basis.

in die Beschwerde gemäss Art. 72 ff. BGG gegen den Entscheid vom 14. März 2014 des Kantonsgerichts St. Gallen betreffend Abänderung von Eheschutzmassnahmen,
in das Gesuch des Beschwerdeführers um unentgeltliche Rechtspflege für das bundesgerichtliche Verfahren,
in Erwägung,
dass die Beschwerde nach Art. 72 ff. BGG innert 30 Tagen nach der Eröffnung des kantonalen Entscheids beim Bundesgericht einzureichen oder zu dessen Handen der Schweizerischen Post zu übergeben ist (Art. 100 Abs. 1, 48 Abs. 1 BGG),
dass der Friststillstand gemäss Art. 46 Abs. 1 lit. a BGG in Fällen wie dem vorliegenden, wo sich die Beschwerde gegen einen im Rahmen eines Verfahrens betreffend vorsorgliche Massnahmen ergangenen Entscheid und damit gegen einen Entscheid im Sinne von Art. 98 BGG richtet (BGE 133 III 393 E. 5 S. 396 f.), kraft der ausdrücklichen Vorschrift des Art. 46 Abs. 2 BGG nicht gilt,
dass der Entscheid des Kantonsgerichts vom 14. März 2014 der Anwältin des Beschwerdeführers am 20. März 2014 eröffnet worden ist,
dass der Beschwerdeführer die Beschwerde an das Bundesgericht erst am 30. April 2014 und damit nach Ablauf der Beschwerdefrist der Post übergeben hat,
dass sich somit die Beschwerde als verspätet und daher als offensichtlich unzulässig erweist, weshalb darauf im Verfahren nach Art. 108 Abs. 1 lit. a BGG nicht einzutreten ist,
dass im Übrigen die Beschwerde auch deshalb unzulässig wäre, weil sie keine klaren und detaillierten Verfassungsrügen enthält und damit den gesetzlichen Begründungsanforderungen nicht entspricht (Art. 98, 116 und 117/106 Abs. 2 BGG),
dass dem Beschwerdeführer in Anbetracht der Aussichtslosigkeit der Beschwerde die unentgeltliche Rechtspflege nicht bewilligt werden kann (Art. 64 Abs. 1 BGG),
dass der unterliegende Beschwerdeführer kostenpflichtig wird (Art. 66 Abs. 1 BGG) und keine Parteientschädigung zugesprochen erhält,
dass in den Fällen des Art. 108 Abs. 1 BGG das vereinfachte Verfahren zum Zuge kommt und der Abteilungspräsident zuständig ist,
Auf die Beschwerde wird nicht eingetreten.
Das Gesuch um unentgeltliche Rechtspflege wird abgewiesen.
Die Gerichtskosten von Fr. 500.-- werden dem Beschwerdeführer auferlegt.
Dem Beschwerdeführer wird keine Parteientschädigung zugesprochen.
Dieses Urteil wird den Parteien und dem Kantonsgericht St. Gallen schriftlich mitgeteilt.
