The Federal Supreme Court noted that the appellant withdrew his appeal against the Zurich cantonal decision concerning the recusal of a court clerk. The appeal was therefore struck from the list by the division president. The appellant was ordered to pay court costs of CHF 300. The withdrawal also rendered the request for free legal aid irrelevant in this procedural setting, after it had already been denied as hopeless.
Art. 71 BGG i.V.m. Art. 73 BZP; withdrawal of the appeal: where the appellant withdraws the federal appeal, the proceedings are to be struck off by the division president pursuant to Art. 32 Abs. 2 BGG. In such a case the costs are as a rule imposed on the withdrawing appellant in accordance with Art. 66 Abs. 1 BGG and the supplementary rules of the BZP. The order is issued without substantive examination of the challenged cantonal decision.

Januar 2008 zurückgezogen hat, die Beschwerde daher durch den Abteilungspräsidenten (Art. 32 Abs. 2 BGG) abzuschreiben ist (Art. 71 BGG i.V.m. Art. 73 BZP) und die Kosten dem Beschwerdeführer aufzuerlegen sind (Art. 71 BGG i.V.m. Art. 5 Abs. 2 BZP, Art. 66 Abs. 1 BGG),
verfügt der Präsident:

Das Verfahren wird als durch Rückzug der Beschwerde erledigt abgeschrieben.
2.
Die Gerichtskosten von Fr. 300.-- werden dem Beschwerdeführer auferlegt.
3.
Diese Verfügung wird dem Beschwerdeführer und dem Obergericht des Kantons Zürich schriftlich mitgeteilt.
