Court costs are borne by the unsuccessful appellant; the amount may be reduced in view of financial circumstances (Art. 66 Abs. 1 and Art. 65 Abs. 2 BGG).

Der Einzelrichter zieht in Erwägung:

Im angefochtenen Entscheid wurde eine kantonale Beschwerde, die das Aufgebot zum Strafantritt in Bezug auf eine Ersatzfreiheitsstrafe von insgesamt 34 Tagen (Verfügung vom 7. August 2008) sowie die Anordnung des Vollzugs einer weiteren Ersatzfreiheitsstrafe von einem Tag (Verfügung vom 26. August 2008) betraf, abgewiesen, soweit darauf eingetreten wurde. Soweit der Beschwerdeführer den Erlass der mit Verfügung von 18. März 2008 wegen Vernachlässigung von Unterhaltspflichten ausgesprochenen Busse beantragt, ist darauf nicht einzutreten, weil die Busse rechtskräftig ist und nicht mehr beurteilt werden kann. Dasselbe gilt gemäss der in der Beschwerde nicht kritisierten Feststellung der Vorinstanz für die Verfügung vom 7. August 2008, mit welcher der Beschwerdeführer in Bezug auf die oben erwähnten insgesamt 34 Tage Ersatzfreiheitsstrafe zum Strafvollzug vorgeladen wurde und die er nicht angefochten hat (angefochtener Entscheid S. 4 lit. b). In Bezug auf das Vorbringen des Beschwerdeführers, er könne die Geldstrafe nicht bezahlen, verweist die Vorinstanz darauf, dass dafür das Amtsstatthalteramt zuständig sei (a.a.O.). Dass diese Auffassung der Vorinstanz gegen das Recht im Sinne von Art. 95 BGG verstossen würde, macht der Beschwerdeführer vor Bundesgericht nicht geltend. Seine auch hier wiederholte Angabe, er sei momentan wieder vom Sozialamt abhängig, kann deshalb von vornherein nicht gehört werden. Und zur Erwägung der Vorinstanz, wonach der Beschwerdeführer die Strafen im Normalvollzug zu verbüssen habe (angefochtener Entscheid S. 4 lit. c), äussert er sich nicht, weshalb sich das Bundesgericht mit dieser Frage nicht zu befassen hat. Auf die Beschwerde ist im Verfahren nach Art. 108 BGG nicht einzutreten.

Die Gerichtskosten sind dem Beschwerdeführer aufzuerlegen (Art. 66 Abs. 1 BGG). Seiner finanziellen Lage ist bei der Höhe der Gerichtsgebühr Rechnung zu tragen (Art. 65 Abs. 2 BGG).
Demnach erkennt der Einzelrichter:

Auf die Beschwerde wird nicht eingetreten.
2.
Die Gerichtskosten von Fr. 500.-- werden dem Beschwerdeführer auferlegt.
3.
Dieses Urteil wird den Parteien und dem Verwaltungsgericht des Kantons Luzern schriftlich mitgeteilt.

The cantonal court held that the competent office for questions about payment was the Amtsstatthalteramt, and the appellant failed before the Federal Court to demonstrate why that view was unlawful or why the sentence should not be served in ordinary execution.
Allocation of court costs before the Federal Court
Court costs were imposed on the appellant, reduced in light of his financial situation.
As the appeal was not entered into, the costs were charged to the appellant with the fee set in consideration of his means.
