The appellant was ordered to pay court costs of CHF 800.
Art. 108 BGG; non-payment of the court cost advance and late request for an extension of time: if the appellant fails to pay the advance costs within the deadline and the granted grace period, the Federal Supreme Court does not enter into the remedy. A request for extension lodged only after expiry of the relevant period is inadmissible. Absent a formal request for legal aid, financial hardship does not alter this result (consid. 1). Court costs are charged to the unsuccessful party pursuant to Art. 66 Abs. 1 BGG (consid. 2).

Der Präsident zieht in Erwägung:

Die Beschwerdeführerin wurde mit Verfügung vom 23. Juni 2009 aufgefordert, dem Bundesgericht spätestens am 14. Juli 2009 einen Kostenvorschuss von Fr. 2'000.-- einzuzahlen. Auf die Verfügung reagierte sie nicht rechtzeitig. Aus diesem Grund wurde ihr mit Verfügung vom 21. Juli 2009 die gesetzlich vorgeschriebene Nachfrist zur Zahlung des Kostenvorschusses angesetzt bis zum 31. August 2009, ansonsten das Bundesgericht auf das Rechtsmittel nicht eintrete.
Am 4. September 2009 stellte sie ein Gesuch um Nachfrist zur Vorschussleistung (act. 16). Das Gesuch ist verspätet, weshalb darauf nicht eingetreten werden kann. Im Übrigen ist ihr Vorbringen, sie habe schon am 22. Juni 2009 geschrieben, dass sie keinen Kostenvorschuss zahlen könne, mutwillig. In ihrer Eingabe vom 22. Juni 2009 (vgl. act. 5) befasst sich die Beschwerdeführerin mit ihrer finanziellen Situation nicht. Und auch in ihren Eingaben vom 18. Juli und 24. August 2009 (act. 13 und 14) wird kein förmliches Gesuch um unentgeltliche Rechtspflege gestellt.
Auf die Beschwerde ist mangels Leistung des Kostenvorschusses im Verfahren nach Art. 108 BGG nicht einzutreten.

Die Gerichtskosten sind der Beschwerdeführerin aufzuerlegen (Art. 66 Abs. 1 BGG).
Demnach erkennt der Präsident:
1.
Auf das Gesuch um eine Nachfrist zur Leistung des Kostenvorschusses wird nicht eingetreten.
2.
Auf die Beschwerde wird nicht eingetreten.
3.
Die Gerichtskosten von Fr. 800.-- werden der Beschwerdeführerin auferlegt.
4.
Dieses Urteil wird den Parteien und dem Appellationsgericht des Kantons Basel-Stadt, Ausschuss, schriftlich mitgeteilt.
