Der Einzelrichter zieht in Erwägung:

Die Staatsanwaltschaft des Kantons Wallis nahm eine Strafklage vom 7. Februar 2013 wegen Verleumdung und übler Nachrede am 14. März 2013 nicht an die Hand, weil der Beschwerdeführer von den angeblich ehrverletzenden Äusserungen nach eigenen Angaben bereits am 8. Februar 2012 sichere Kenntnis erhalten und die Antragsfrist von drei Monaten somit nicht eingehalten hatte. Eine dagegen gerichtete Beschwerde wies das Kantonsgericht Wallis am 29. April 2013 ab. Der Beschwerdeführer wendet sich ans Bundesgericht, ohne einen ausdrücklichen Antrag zu stellen. Offensichtlich strebt er eine Verurteilung des Beschuldigten an.

Der Beschwerdeführer macht geltend, die Äusserungen seien ihm erst am 20. September 2012 bekannt geworden (Beschwerde S. 3). Demgegenüber konnte die Vorinstanz auf S. 2 seiner Eingabe an die Staatsanwaltschaft verweisen, wonach ihm "die ersten Informationen am 08. Februar 2012 zu Augen gekommen" sind (Verfügung S. 3). Aus welchem Grund die Vorinstanz nicht auf diesen eigenen Hinweis des Beschwerdeführers hätte abstellen dürfen, ist seiner Eingabe ans Bundesgericht nicht zu entnehmen. Diese genügt folglich, soweit ihre Ausführungen nicht ohnehin an der Sache vorbeigehen, den Anforderungen von Art. 42 Abs. 2 BGG nicht. Darauf ist im Verfahren nach Art. 108 BGG nicht einzutreten.

Die Gerichtskosten sind dem Beschwerdeführer aufzuerlegen (Art. 66 Abs. 1 BGG). Das Gesuch um unentgeltliche Rechtspflege ist in Anwendung von Art. 64 BGG abzuweisen, weil die Rechtsbegehren aussichtslos erschienen. Der finanziellen Lage des Beschwerdeführers ist bei der Bemessung der Gerichtskosten Rechnung zu tragen (Art. 65 Abs. 2 BGG).

Demnach erkennt der Einzelrichter:

Auf die Beschwerde wird nicht eingetreten.

2.

Das Gesuch um unentgeltliche Rechtspflege wird abgewiesen.

3.

Die Gerichtskosten von Fr. 500.-- werden dem Beschwerdeführer auferlegt.

4.

Dieses Urteil wird den Parteien und dem Kantonsgericht des Kantons Wallis, Strafkammer, schriftlich mitgeteilt.
