The appellant sought federal review of a cantonal social insurance decision, but he did not pay the advance on costs even after a grace period. The Federal Supreme Court therefore did not enter into the appeal in simplified proceedings. Owing to the circumstances, it waived court costs. The judgment was notified to the parties, the cantonal social insurance chamber, and the Federal Social Insurance Office.
Art. 62 Abs. 3 BGG in conjunction with Art. 108 Abs. 1 lit. a and Abs. 2 BGG; non-payment of the advance on costs after expiry of the extended deadline leads to non-entry in simplified proceedings. If the advance is not paid within the grace period, the court may decline to examine the appeal without further instruction. Under Art. 66 Abs. 1 second sentence BGG, the court may exceptionally waive judicial costs where the circumstances so warrant.

in die Verfügung vom 27. Januar 2014, mit welcher F.________ zur Bezahlung eines Kostenvorschusses innert einer Nachfrist bis zum 7. Februar 2014 verpflichtet wurde, ansonsten auf das Rechtsmittel nicht eingetreten werde,
in Erwägung,
dass der Beschwerdeführer den Vorschuss auch innerhalb der Nachfrist nicht geleistet hat,
dass deshalb gestützt auf Art. 62 Abs. 3 BGG im vereinfachten Verfahren nach Art. 108 Abs. 1 lit. a und Abs. 2 BGG auf die Beschwerde nicht einzutreten ist und in Anwendung von Art. 66 Abs. 1 Satz 2 BGG umständehalber auf die Erhebung von Gerichtskosten verzichtet wird,
Auf die Beschwerde wird nicht eingetreten.
Es werden keine Gerichtskosten erhoben.
Dieses Urteil wird den Parteien, dem Verwaltungsgericht des Kantons Bern, Sozialversicherungsrechtliche Abteilung, und dem Bundesamt für Sozialversicherungen schriftlich mitgeteilt.
