Beschwerde gegen den Entscheid des Versicherungsgerichts des Kantons St. Gallen vom 1. Oktober 2008.

In Erwägung,
dass J.________ gegen den Entscheid des Versicherungsgerichts des Kantons St. Gallen vom 1. Oktober 2008 betreffend eine Rente der Invalidenversicherung Beschwerde in öffentlich-rechtlichen Angelegenheiten erhoben hat,
dass der Beschwerdeführer eine Verletzung des Grundsatzes der freien Beweiswürdigung (BGE 125 V 351 E. 3a S. 352; Urteil 9C_49/2008 vom 28. Juli 2008 E. 4.2) sowie eine unvollständige Sachverhaltsfeststellung in Bezug auf die Frage der Auswirkungen der Hörschädigung auf die Arbeits- und Erwerbsfähigkeit, was ebenfalls eine Verletzung von Bundesrecht darstellte (Urteile 9C_442/2008 vom 28. November 2008 E. 1.1 und 8C_547/2007 vom 19. März 2008 E. 3.1), rügt,
dass die Vorinstanz alle, auch die in der Beschwerde erwähnten medizinischen Berichte berücksichtigt und dargelegt hat, weshalb auf diese und nicht auf jene (fach-)ärztliche Beurteilung abzustellen sei (BGE 122 V 157 E. 1c S. 160),
dass das Abstellen auf das Gutachten des Zentrums X.________ vom 26. April und 10. Mai 2006 für die Zeit ab Mai 2006 nicht (schon) deshalb eine unhaltbare Beweiswürdigung darstellt, weil die IV-Stelle anfänglich den in Bezug auf die Arbeitsfähigkeit davon abweichenden Bericht der Klinik Valens vom 28. Dezember 2004 als gut nachvollziehbar bezeichnet hatte,
dass die Vorbringen im Zusammenhang mit der Hörschädigung nicht über eine unzulässige appellatorische Kritik am angefochtenen Entscheid hinausgehen (Art. 105 BGG; Urteil 9C_882/2007 vom 11. April 2008 E. 5.1 mit Hinweisen),
dass weder die Ermittlung des Valideneinkommens auf der Grundlage der Schweizerischen Lohnstrukturerhebungen des Bundesamtes für Statistik (BGE 124 V 321), noch ein Abzug vom Tabellenlohn nach BGE 126 V 75 - in der maximal zulässigen Höhe - von 25% am Umfang des Rentenanspruchs (ein Eintel vom 1. Mai 2004 bis 28. Februar 2005, drei Viertel vom 1. März 2005 bis 31. August 2006, ein Viertel ab 1. September 2006; Art. 28 Abs. 2 IVG) etwas ändern, auf die diesbezüglichen Vorbringen in der Beschwerde daher nicht weiter einzugehen ist,
dass die Beschwerde, soweit zulässig, offensichtlich unbegründet ist und daher im vereinfachten Verfahren mit summarischer Begründung nach Art. 109 Abs. 2 lit. a und Abs. 3 BGG erledigt wird,
dass der Beschwerdeführer als unterliegende Partei die Gerichtskosten zu tragen hat (Art. 66 Abs. 1 BGG),

erkennt das Bundesgericht:

Die Beschwerde wird abgewiesen.

2.
Die Gerichtskosten von Fr. 500.- werden dem Beschwerdeführer auferlegt.

3.
Dieses Urteil wird den Parteien, dem Versicherungsgericht des Kantons St. Gallen, der Ausgleichskasse des Kantons St. Gallen und dem Bundesamt für Sozialversicherungen zugestellt.
