The appellant challenged AVS contribution decisions by the cantonal compensation fund. Before judgment, the appellant informed the court that it was withdrawing the appeal because an amicable settlement had been reached with the fund. The sole cantonal social insurance judge held that the dispute had become moot and ordered the case struck from the docket. The court also decided that no fees or costs would be charged and directed service of the decree on the parties.
Withdrawal of appeal; mootness and costs. Where the appellant expressly withdraws the appeal after reaching a settlement with the opposing party, the proceedings become devoid of object and the case is struck from the docket. In such circumstances, and absent special reasons, no court fees or costs are levied (consid. 1–2).
