Child X, represented by the Youth Office of the City of X as guardian, applied for recognition of an adoption by spouses U and K. The adoption had been made by notarial deed on 14 May 1999. Düsseldorf Local Court granted the application, recognizing the adoption. It further determined that, with respect to parental responsibility and the adoptive parents’ maintenance obligation, the recognized adoption has the same status as an adoption established under German substantive law.
