Chapter 425 — Fire Safety

Sec. 0.01. Short title
This Act may be cited as the Hotel Floor Plan Posting Act.

Sec. 1.
The term "hotel" means any building or buildings maintained, advertised, and held out to the public to be a place where lodging is offered for consideration to travelers and guests. The term includes inns, motels, tourist homes or courts and lodging houses.

Sec. 2.
The operator of a hotel shall post or cause to be posted in each room of the hotel he operates a floor plan of the corridor on which the room is located, showing all available exits. Such plan shall be posted in a conspicuous location in the guest room.

Sec. 3.
Any hotel operator who violates this Act shall be guilty of a business offense, punishable by a fine not to exceed $50 for each day of violation.

Sec. 4.
This Act does not apply to any hotel of one story in which all guest rooms have doorways leading directly outside.

Sec. 5.
This Act shall be administered and enforced by counties in unincorporated areas and municipalities in incorporated areas.

Sec. 6.
This Act takes effect January 1, 1982.
