The Federal Supreme Court dealt with an appeal against a Zurich cassation court order refusing substitution of appointed defense counsel. After the appellant had been warned about the formal requirements, he failed to explain any legal or constitutional defect in the challenged order. The court therefore held the appeal inadmissible for failure to satisfy the pleading requirements. Given the circumstances, it waived court costs.

Beschwerde gegen die Verfügung vom 18. Oktober 2007 des Kassationsgerichts des Kantons Zürich.

In Erwägung,
dass der Präsident des Kassationsgerichts des Kantons Zürich mit Verfügung vom 18. Oktober 2007 ein von X.________ gestelltes Gesuch um Auswechslung des amtlichen Verteidigers abgewiesen hat;

dass X.________ gegen diese Verfügung der Sache nach Beschwerde in Strafsachen erhoben hat;
dass er mit Schreiben vom 6. November 2007 auf die gesetzlichen Formerfordernisse einer solchen Beschwerde aufmerksam gemacht worden ist;

dass er auf dieses Schreiben hin nicht reagiert hat;

dass der Beschwerdeführer in seiner Eingabe vom 23. Oktober 2007 nicht darlegt, inwiefern die angefochtene Verfügung rechts- bzw. verfassungswidrig sein soll;

dass die Beschwerde daher den gesetzlichen Formerfordernissen (Art. 42 Abs. 2 BGG, s. auch Art. 106 BGG; BGE 133 II 249 insb. 1.4) nicht zu genügen vermag, weshalb auf sie nicht einzutreten ist;

dass es sich bei den gegebenen Verhältnissen rechtfertigt, keine Kosten zu erheben;

Demnach erkennt der Präsident:

Auf die Beschwerde wird nicht eingetreten.
2.
Es werden keine Kosten erhoben.
3.
Dieses Urteil wird den Parteien und dem Kassationsgericht des Kantons Zürich schriftlich mitgeteilt.
