The appellant challenged the Geneva cantonal court's confirmation of the refusal to require the bankruptcy estate of Y. SA to provide security for costs in a liability action. Before the Federal Supreme Court ruled on the merits, the claimant withdrew the underlying action against both the appellant and Z., and the parties agreed to waive any costs or compensation. The Court therefore took note of the withdrawal, struck the appeal from the docket, and ordered that no court costs or party compensation be charged.

Vu le recours en matière civile formé le 16 mai 2013 par X.________ contre l'arrêt du 12 avril 2013 par lequel la Chambre civile de la Cour de justice du canton de Genève a confirmé la décision du Tribunal de première instance du même canton, datée du 25 octobre 2012, dans la mesure où elle rejetait la requête du prénommé tendant à ce que la Masse en faillite de Y.________ SA, intimée au recours, qui avait introduit une action en responsabilité, au sens des art. 754 ss CO, contre lui et contre Z.________, fût condamnée à fournir des sûretés en garantie de ses dépens, conformément à l'art. 99 CPC;
Vu la lettre du 13 août 2013, cosignée par le mandataire de l'intimée, dans laquelle le conseil du recourant informe le Tribunal fédéral que l'intimée, demanderesse au fond, s'est désistée de son action (art. 241 al. 2 CPC) à l'égard tant du recourant que de Z.________, lequel n'a du reste pas participé à la procédure fédérale;
Considérant qu'il y a lieu de prendre acte de ce retrait et de rayer la cause 4A_270/2013 du rôle;
Considérant, quant aux frais, qu'il peut être renoncé à en percevoir, étant donné les circonstances, en application de l'art. 66 al. 2 LTF;
Considérant, en ce qui concerne les dépens, que, selon la susdite lettre, le recourant et l'intimée sont convenus de renoncer à leur éventuelle allocation;
Vu l'art. 32 al. 2 LTF,
Il est pris acte du retrait du recours.
La cause 4A_270/2013 est rayée du rôle.
Il n'est pas perçu de frais ni alloué de dépens.
La présente ordonnance est communiquée aux mandataires des parties et à la Chambre civile de la Cour de justice du canton de Genève.

Whether the civil appeal should be taken note of as withdrawn after the underlying action was withdrawn.
The Court took note of the withdrawal of the appeal and struck the case from the docket.
Once the claimant withdrew the main action against both respondents, there was no basis to continue the appeal concerning security for costs.
Allocation of costs and party compensation after withdrawal.
No court costs were charged and no party compensation was awarded.
In view of the circumstances, costs were waived under the Federal Supreme Court Act, and the parties had agreed to waive any award of costs between them.
