The appellants challenged an appellate judgment of the Appellationsgericht Basel-Stadt concerning a guardianship measure, but then withdrew the federal appeal in writing. The President of the Civil Division therefore struck the case from the docket. The Federal Supreme Court ordered court costs of CHF 100 against the appellants jointly and severally and notified the appellants, the KESB Basel-Stadt, and the Appellationsgericht.

Das bundesgerichtliche Verfahren 5A_18/2014 wird als durch Rückzug der Beschwerde erledigt abgeschrieben.
Die Gerichtskosten von Fr. 100.-- werden den Beschwerdeführerinnen unter Solidarhaft auferlegt.
Diese Verfügung wird den Beschwerdeführerinnen, der Kindes- und Erwachsenenschutzbehörde Basel-Stadt und dem Appellationsgericht des Kantons Basel-Stadt schriftlich mitgeteilt.
