The Federal Supreme Court dealt with an inheritance-partition appeal against a cantonal decision declaring a lower appeal inadmissible because no conclusions had been stated, even after an additional time limit. Before the Federal Supreme Court, the appellant merely asked for a lawyer, without seeking legal aid and without addressing the cantonal court's reasoning. The Court held that the appeal lacked any argument satisfying the federal motivation requirements and therefore issued an inadmissibility decision in simplified proceedings. Court costs of CHF 700 were charged to the appellant.

In the absence of a request for legal aid under Art. 64 LTF, a mere request for appointment of counsel does not suspend the party's duty to act personally or through retained counsel. In such a case, the Federal Supreme Court may decide in simplified proceedings under Art. 108 al. 1 let. b LTF and charge the costs to the appellant pursuant to Art. 66 al. 1 LTF.

l'arrêt attaqué, qui déclare irrecevable un recours déposé par A.________, dans la cause en partage successoral la divisant d'avec les intimés, pour le motif qu'elle n'a pas indiqué ses conclusions, même dans le délai supplémentaire qui lui a été imparti à cet effet;
le recours adressé au Tribunal fédéral le 31 août 2010 par la prénommée, qui sollicite l'attribution d'un avocat, mais sans requérir l'assistance judiciaire (art. 64 LTF);
considérant:
qu'à défaut de demande d'assistance judiciaire au sens de la décision précitée, il incombe à la recourante de mandater elle-même un avocat;
que dans son mémoire adressé au Tribunal fédéral, la recourante ne s'en prend nullement aux considérants de la cour cantonale et ne démontre donc pas en quoi la décision de cette autorité serait contraire au droit ou à la Constitution;
qu'ainsi, faute de contenir une motivation répondant aux exigences des art. 42 al. 2 et 106 al. 2 LTF, le recours doit être déclaré irrecevable en procédure simplifiée selon l'art. 108 al. 1 let. b LTF, aux frais de son auteur (art. 66 al. 1 LTF);
par ces motifs, vu l'art. 108 al. 1 LTF, la Présidente prononce:

Le recours est irrecevable.
2.
Les frais judiciaires, arrêtés à 700 fr., sont mis à la charge de la recourante.
3.
Le présent arrêt est communiqué aux participants à la procédure et à la Chambre des recours du Tribunal cantonal du canton de Vaud.
