However, the appellant must substantively challenge the decisive cantonal finding, here the lack of indigence under cantonal law. If the complaint does not engage with that determinative reason and merely raises irrelevant considerations, the court may refuse to enter into the matter in summary procedure under Art. 108 BGG. Court costs are then borne by the appellant pursuant to Art. 66 Abs. 1 BGG.

Der Einzelrichter zieht in Erwägung:

Angefochten ist eine Verfügung betreffend die Verweigerung der unentgeltlichen Rechtspflege. Es handelt sich dabei um einen Zwischenentscheid im Sinne von Art. 93 Abs. 1 lit. a BGG, wogegen vorliegend die Beschwerde in Strafsachen grundsätzlich offen steht (vgl. zum Ganzen BGE 129 I 129 E. 1.1).

Die Vorinstanz wies im angefochtenen Entscheid ein Gesuch um unentgeltliche Rechtspflege ab, weil der Beschwerdeführer mit einem Vermögen in der Grössenordnung von Fr. 336'000.-- nicht bedürftig im Sinne von § 34 des Verwaltungsrechtspflegegesetzes des Kantons Aargau (VRPG/AG) sei. Mit der Frage der Bedürftigkeit befasst sich der Beschwerdeführer in seiner Beschwerde vor Bundesgericht auch nicht ansatzweise. Seine Hinweise darauf, dass man einen Rentner nicht dazu zwingen könne, den ungerechtfertigten Strafvollzug zu bezahlen, gehen an der Sache vorbei. Darauf ist im Verfahren nach Art. 108 BGG nicht einzutreten.

Die Gerichtskosten sind dem Beschwerdeführer aufzuerlegen (Art. 66 Abs. 1 BGG).

Demnach erkennt der Einzelrichter:

Auf die Beschwerde wird nicht eingetreten.

2.
Die Gerichtskosten von Fr. 800.-- werden dem Beschwerdeführer auferlegt.

3.
Dieses Urteil wird den Parteien und dem Verwaltungsgericht des Kantons Aargau, 1. Kammer, schriftlich mitgeteilt.
