X. challenged the decision of the Appellationsgericht of Basel-Stadt before the Swiss Federal Supreme Court in a criminal matter. The Court held that the complaint did not address the decisive reasoning of the cantonal decision and therefore failed to satisfy the federal requirements for reasoning. The complaint was not entered into under Art. 108 BGG. In view of the circumstances, the President waived court costs.

The Federal Supreme Court examines the pleading ex officio only within the limits of the substantiation duty; failure to comply leads to non-entry in summary procedure under Art. 108 BGG (consid. 1). Costs may exceptionally be waived in the circumstances (consid. 2).

Der Präsident zieht in Erwägung:

Die Vorinstanz trat auf eine Beschwerde des Beschwerdeführers nicht ein, weil er diese nicht hinreichend begründet hatte (angefochtener Entscheid, S. 3 E. 1.3). Mit der Frage der Begründungsanforderungen einer kantonalen Beschwerde befasst sich der Beschwerdeführer vor Bundesgericht in keiner Weise. Seine Beschwerde genügt den Begründungsanforderungen von Art. 42 Abs. 2 bzw. Art. 106 Abs. 2 BGG folglich nicht, weshalb darauf im Verfahren nach Art. 108 BGG nicht einzutreten ist.

Auf eine Kostenauflage kann vorliegend ausnahmsweise verzichtet werden.
Demnach erkennt der Präsident:

Auf die Beschwerde wird nicht eingetreten.
2.
Es werden keine Kosten erhoben.
3.
Dieses Urteil wird den Parteien und dem Appellationsgericht des Kantons Basel-Stadt, Ausschuss, schriftlich mitgeteilt.
